A nice book with great photos of moths from Costa Rica, but the author has multiple photos of the same species on many of the pages. One species is shown 12 times, 6 photos on 2 pages, from different angles, as if he walked around the table taking 12 photos. Redundant and confusing as to why he would waste valuable color plates to show the same moth 12 times. He does similar things throughout the book. If you don't know anything about moths of Central America/Costa Rica, this book is for you. High quality photos and a great variety of species. If you are a moth collector, this won't help you too much, but there are some identifications of some obscure species that would be helpful. A nice coffee table book.

Bought this for my Entomologist daughter's birthday. I was VERY disappointed that it came wrapped in protective plastic because I wanted to read it before giving it to her!!!!!! Hahaha! You saved me from giving her a used book!! She is going to love this book if the inside is anything like the cover. It comes highly recommended from the members of the Entomology Facebook page I subscribe to.

As a biology student and lover of moths I think this is a really beautiful book and it has astonishing photos for identification, but for that purpose it really needs an index, I had to look all the photos to find moths of the family Hepialidae, after all the search I realized that the family was not in the book, indexes are really important in books like this one.
